He's India's Michael Jackson and regardless what controversies he's stuck in, he still commands a fan base willing to look past. These are just a few songs I watched just for him all the time and are still very fond of.
I love the tuning in this song just because it has an inspirational feel to it as per the scene in the movie. Couldn't find the full clip so added two to cover it all.
part 2
Back to the beginning. This song is supposedly what made Prabhu Deva famous but I kind of feel since he did so many others before Chikku Bukku is just one of the popular ones. Love Raju's cameo in the cameo.
They made a movie with the title of this song but nothing beats this. Thirupathi Ezhumalai Venkatesa marked the return of Krishnaraj who unfortunately has disappeared again.
I loved the soundtrack and the movie VIP, a remake of Tere Mere Sapne, in which Prabhu played Arshad Warsi's character. Its a shame that Ranjith Barot didn't do more movies as music director. Quite liked Aks as well.
Yes the costumes are a bit odd but funky song and Prabhu's trademark expression in Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar.
Love the chemistry between Kalyani and Prabhu in this and they were great in the movie Alli Thantha Vaanam too.
A song from his first feature film Indu. Cant believe Khushbu did a cameo in the song but here she is.
I cant have a post of Prabhu Deva's without this song. Not so much of the fast moving dance but still a good song.
Now shifting to Telugu, this one is from Style. Like the dance incorporation but could have given Prabhu a stronger role than what he got.
How about some Hindi since this man is all over the place? I remember squealing my lungs out when I saw Prabhu on screen while watching Shakthi. I'd seen the other version but SRK had me interested but this cameo I didn't expect.
It is honestly very hard to find some of Prabhu really early work. like his cameo's when he was still a teenager. Of course there is Chikku Bukku as I have added but there are so many others. If you find any please let me know so that I can add it. Mind you that is a big if since some dont approve. I think the worst thing about one of my favourite actors being caught in a controversy is that people expect me to hate for that fact. But I choose to look at the talent and the actor/director/choreographer that he is instead. If you choose otherwise, let me just say be fair and check the facts, not what the media feeds you. Kamal Haasan is an undeniable entity in the industry but his personal life and theories don't sit well with some and I frankly dont care about it either. Whether that disgusts you or irritates you, I feel that there are so many untold sides of stories that are flosting in the walls of the industry so all I ask is you enjoy this post for what it is. My post on work done by one of my favourite celebrities.
Whatever I watch, wherever I watch.. Yee centre-aina sari.. chustha, comment chestha!

Mic Testing 1, 2, 3..
When it comes to singing, there is no limit to the abundance of talent in the industry. But what happens when actors want to sing? Either its a hit or miss. I just finished watching Guzaarish and was amazed at Hrithik's rendition of the timeless classic 'What a wonderful world'. So I thought to compile some of the songs together, just for fun.
Nizam boss, edupu vachesindi.. This man is amazing in all aspects but when he started to sing, I went for the tissue box.
From crying to dancing, Siddharth has sung quite a few songs but I love the fun factor in his voice. But this song from Oy! somehow has me hooked more than others. I kinda feel it suits his voice more than the others.
Kamal Hassan has a very unique voice yet I fund it quite soothing in this song. A classic that still gets used now, although in a more comical sense, Thenpaandi Cheemaiyile gets my vote on Kamal's best vocal act.
But when it comes to Kamal Haasan, one is never enough. While I do love Chitra and her rendition of this song with Kumar Sanu, where Tabu and Anil Kapoor were ok, the original Inji Iduppazhagi has to be the cutest pictorisation between Revathy and Kamal.
I know you might find this weird but I absolutely love NTR Junior's voice. His modulation is just amazing no matter the scene. So naturally when I heard him sing in Yamadonga, I was interested to see how he went. Not bad from Puli but out of the 3 songs he sang, DSP definitely rocks with this one.
Shifting base we have Aamir Khan singing that famous line, Aati Kya Khandala. Although my personal fav from the film was Jadoo Hai Tera Hi, This is just a fun song that became a success bigger than anticipated.
I love the man but was not to convinced with Shah Rukh Khan's singing capabilities. However ridiculous I found it, the fangirl screams continued and the memorising of his lines and dance steps was evident. Mind you I still felt like slapping Ash.
When the other Khans are present, Salman Khan isn't far behind. The film Hello Brother has some great music, typical of a Salman Khan flick. Some may not think he's too good but this is Salman Ishtyle bhaiyya.. And no one does it like Salman.
What can I say about Mamta Mohandas that I havent already? Although she has sung a few songs for herself like this one in King...
.. She isn't adverse to just being a playback singer. My current favourite is Priyankari from Thriller (Please excuse Katherine Theresa's wardrobe. I'm sure Prithviraj makes up for it)
Shalini Ajithkumar may not have been around much in Tamil after Kadhalukku Mariyathai but she and her sister were a force to reckon with when they were child artists. In the film that featured to now married Shalini and Ajith, she debuted as a singer. Pity she didn't continue.
Manoj K Bharathi isn't the best looking guy but when you're dealing with A.R.Rahman who knows how to pick a voice, he must have the goods when it comes to singing. Whats more, after his debut in Taj Mahal,Manoj released an album with actress Meena called "16 Vayathinile" which fared pretty well. For a guy that struggled as an actor, he's got a few talents up his sleave as he tries to make his directional debut, a remake his father's cult classic of the same name.
I'm pretty sure there are others but these are the one that I could gather videos for. If you have any suggestions with videos, please do share. More than likely, I was looking for them..

Dheera Dheera Dheera...
Sorry boss, this isn't about Ram Charan. This is about the absolutely awesome new film Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu with Siddharth, Shruti Haasan and Lakshmi Manchu. But where would you begin on something like this. I know there have been movies that have the fantasy genre tagged to them. There have even been movies associated to big Hollywood companies. However, I dont there is any that have caught the interest of industry and audience folks quite as much. I know the whole "Hum sab hindustani hai" [barring the obvious that I'm sri lankan] but out of those that spoke while on centre stage during the trailer release, Shruti Haasan was the only one that spoke of the film as an achievement on a national level. But enough of the desi-ism, nationalism and classism.. Down to the Dheerudism.
Yodha. Ee peru ekkado vinnantunde ani anupisthundi. My personal reference back to this name is that A.R.Rahman's first feature film recorded was Yodha in Malayalam. Roja is the one that released first and struck a cord with the audience. But something about this name seems to always have me thinking of an samurai warrior. I know, cheesy but seriously. Besides the obvious Star Wars reference which I have yet to watch a complete film, I always thought it was asian. But with Siddhu playing the character you have to forget the urban yuppy lover boy characters he's played. In his new avatar, he is about to kiss some major asian ass.(There are asian action choreographers in this film)
Priya. Simple sweet and nice. A name as often used as Jane Do, but each person that has played a Priya has add their own touch to it. Ikkada kooda, mana "Sakalakala Vallavan" Kamal Haasan has his darling daughter debuting in what I call her first feature film since Luck did nothing but sink. Andam, abhinayam..ade Shruti. Multifaceted and excelling in all departments, I would have love to hear Shruti speak Telugu but Sunitha has taken the mike on this one. Will have to do with her singing Eenadu till the next project.
Irendri. Thalli is what her father, Mohan Babu, called her on her show. But idi Mohan Babu kooture kadhu. Lakshmi is sssizzling and packing sssome punchesss on her own. The first voice you hear in the trailer is this talented actress and then a face that is both menacing and majestic. Mee Lakshmi talk show is one of the few talk shows I watch and that extraordinary persona that attracts you so simply which I have seen so many times in Mohan Babugaru is evident with her own touch of fun and finesse. So imagine my delight seeing her pics of Irendri and then the trailer. Baboi!! Nenu khallas. So here's introducing Lakshmi Manchu.
These three are enough reason singularly to watch any film but adding them together under a banner that has always been magical to me and naturally my interest investment is larger than any other film. Disney is the only company I was ever interested in on a feature film scale, although Warner Bros and MGM were in not off the map completely. I guess because Disney made the classics and WB was more cartoon quality to me, I didn't give them much thought.
Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu releases Jan 14th,2011.
Inkenti Boss, keep an eye out for Youtube videos and other news. This one is bound to surpass expectations..

Singing in the Rain..
Varsham ante pranam naaku. Movie kadhu boss, actual rain. When it rains, if I dont have work and I dont need to worry about important things needing to be done, I love to walk, skip, jump, play and dance in the rain. If fact of the many songs that I feel in love with, some memorable ones are in the rain. And somehow A.R.Rahman dominates my rain songs list although there are others.
Even now when I think of rain and dancing, the first song that I think of is Thenmerku from Karuthamma. A classic track with Maheshwari and Raja in it. Vocals by my darlings Chitra and Unnikrishnan has me falling in love with them and the rain everytime I hear the song.
Tidbit: When Chitra came to Sydney for a concert a few years ago, I kept screaming Thenmerku[much to my mum's disgust] and as she was rounding up the night, she said "To the wonderful fan in front" and sang a few lines from it.. I nearly fainted from shock..
Aishwarya gets some really good songs as it is. Add the rain and the guys are gone.. :P Although she has Taal's title track to her name with rain songs, I seem to enjoy this one in Guru more.
Ok, please excuse the visuals on this one but I LOVE this song for M.G Sreekumar. I dont know if he has sung Tamil before but I could kiss A.R.Rahman for using him in this song and the lyrics are awesome too. Just dont know what happened to the normally adorable Arvindaswamy.
No SRK fan can say they didn't repeat the dance moves to this song within the confines of their room. As the second film I watched on the big screen[before learning the language] Dil To Pagal Hai remains a favourite.
What kind of blog is mine if I dont have this woman. Kajol is and will remain my absolute favourite actress and to see her with Aamir in Fanaa was a just beyond words. A rare actress that commands that much of a fan base, even though most are rejected because of the "married" taboo.
Now I know my bangaram Louella will like this song. Funny enough I never say Sarfarosh but was in love with this song for ages after a chance hearing of it on the radio.
And of course, Varsham gurinchi cheppakunda undagalana.. Trisha beats Shreya in this one hands down..
Even though, these are some of my favs, I know there is more in Telugu and Tamil. So please suggest some more and I will add them to my video page on my other blog.
"Varshamlo thadisthu velle ee vela, nee gurthu raakudadhu ante ela.
Manasulo unna maata oka sari chepthanu nuvvu vintava naa sakhi.."

Rahman Raagam..
If there is anyone that I could never live without, it A.R.Rahman. Kottodu, kottodu. He isn't in my life physically but its still personal. I remember dancing around to Roja's Rukkumani and falling asleep to Pudhu Vellai Mazhai. I know that it sounds selfish but I was devasted that he started doing Hindi because I wanted him for myself.. :P But of course that was before I learnt the language and thought Rahman is Rahman.. ANY DOUBT!
So check it out boss.. Just a few favourites..
SPB in one of the many sad songs that I loved to cry with..
And then of course the Hindi stuff. Love this song for Udit and Aamir. Rocking combo!! I still remember my brother threatening to smash the CD player coz I put this on soooo much.. :P
Forget Prabhu Deva and Shilpa Shetty in this one, just watch it for Vadivel's expression..

Its amazing how Arvindaswamy acts and looks so good in all of his Mani Ratnam's movies. And Manisha..Wow!!
But it wasn't just Hindi he branched off too. He was doing Telugu way ealier. I was just naive to the fact of dubbed films :P This is one of my fav SPB and Chitra tracks from loong ago.. Gang Master[Sorry no video available so I had to put flowers to the tracks :)]
Now the clip maybe a bit worrisome but LUV LUV LUV the song to bits. And whats more I've heard it 3 languages!! I miss Soundarya like no other actress but her memory lives on..
Inka chala unnai boss. But like I said this is only a few.. Mee suggestions of any?

Olammi! Mamta Magic..
Don't ask me why, when or how. I've always had a soft corner for Mamta Mohandas but unfortunately the only movies I've had access to were her Tamil and Telugu ones only. Not that I'm complaining. I thought she was a cute newface in Sivappathigaram. Believe it not,I figured since the film clicked, she would be a leading contender considering the trend that was happening with Asin and Nayanthara.
But then I saw some wall papers on the Telugu page of Indiaglitz and recognised the familiar face. Without thinking I would not understand much of it, I went looking for Yamadonga. From that point, my favourite song and dance anthem came in the form of Nuvvu Muttukunte and Olammi. This kept me going till I saw her again in Krishnarjuna and Victory. Both left much to be desired but I remained optimistic. I guess I just found solace in her singing.
But behind that beautiful face, there was life threatening struggle. To think the year I saw her return to Tamil where there was a massive gap, she must have been going through so much pain and still looked and acted beautifully during and after her chemotherapy, shows the power of the human spirit. I know there are many that have gone through struggle and some that still do but amongst the attention seekers, even while the pain was unbearable, the strength that Mamta has shown sets her apart. Call me biased or even naive, I dont care. It takes courage to be open about that kind of pain. Yet, even now this stage of her career and life, the facts is not belted on the microphone or even shown documentary styled episodes on tv. Sympathy was never on the requirements and even now, as people read and watch in awe this actress/singer shine and dazzle in what she describes the best form she has ever been in, she is composed and positive, no dramatics.
I urge anyone that has a even a remote interest in the actress to read her interview just to take a glimpse at her ordeal. I am sometimes perceived to be someone who keeps her emotions hidden but when confronted by this type of situation, I would have certainly broken down quite quickly. But to see a reminder in the form of ones "made up" self in the mirror and look at it with hope... Hats off Mamta!
So this post is in dedication to as well as glimpse into an actress I adore. To me Mamta Mohandas is an amazing actress that I also have a lot of respect for and I eagerly wait to see her on the big screen here in Sydney.

Hello Brother..
Adi ento teliyudu boss, Nagarjuna has always had a special spot. Whether its Geetanjali or King, his films have always had extra attention for me. Its funny how most of the movies I saw of his were the dubbed version but I still loved them. I remember watching Hello Brother so many times for the "Inba Raagangal" or " Priya Raagale" song. Absolutely loved Soundarya in the film and of course Ramya Krishnan was bindaas as usual.
Classnunchi complete Mass.. Raj-Koti musiclo ee range kooda unde..
Thankfully it was only dubbed into Tamil. Dont think I know anyone that could do the role in Tamil from that era. But the Hindi version Judwaa was a total classic. Salman like never before..well for me. And classic point. Rambha made her debut on screen with Kannepittaro Kannukottaro...
And then becomes the lead in Judwaa with Salman..
Kani okati boss... Salman Khan is awesome, doubt ledhu. Aa style enti, face enti, body enti. But mana Manmadhudhu manmadhudhe! Class aina mass aina, Nagarjuna laga evaru undaru!!

The Golden Boy ..
There was a time that I didn't think much of Suriya. Never hated, just thought he was very average. But without me realising it he became this adbutham that is the actor SURIYA. Inkenti maatalu.. Take a look at him in all his glory in the commercial wonder, Ayan.
Initially I thought the combo would look weird but now that I've seen the film a few million times, Tamannah looks good with him. But no guesses as to what kind of role. Pretty much standar heroine role.

Starting point..
Adi Ride film release aiye time. I was in my own Ashta Chamma pichiness. Ee kurradu unnade.. ade Nani.Vaamo! Cute, handsome, amazing on screen. Ashta Chamma debbaki nenu flat. Inka Ride, Snehithuda..total madness I tell you.I starting looking for all his articles and clippings. And then I came across Mustaffa Mustaffa. Smita's talk show wasn't worth much for me but then Nani and Nandini came on and I was gone. Literally, Ala Modalaindi.
Ee cinema eppudu vasthundo teliyudu.. but still na bloglo Nani undani garvanga bavisthunanu.. sight kottadam easy aipoyindehe!

There is something about Uthama Puthiran
Yeah, its out and I reviewed in but I still think there is something missing from it. Love the chemistry between Dhanush and Genelia. I thought they were sooooo cute.
Sare, Ram chesina film remake chesaru.. but even if its a remake, its just as good. Thank god Vivek didn't copy Brahmi entrirely. Or else that would have fallen flat.
One thing I wish they kept was this song. Ajesh is a winner of Super Singer I believe and this is his debut but its not in the film and looking at the still I think this song was shot for but then cut out. :(
Anyways, have a listen...

My name is Sura.. My name is?
Mokkai padam, sir.. Lol! Dont ask why, but I have loved SPB Charan for a long time..so any film he is associated with gets my interest. Add the fact he's joined by Shiva. Yappa! Serious face, funny situation.. Total mokkais but great. And with Pushkar Gayathri!! Quarter adichu kuppura padukkra santhosham kudikaranukku. For me its movies..
Ithu pathathunu.. the dialogue kicks it..

Khaleja, bhayya!
Yemani cheppanu... this guy has been a favourite since I can remember. Ashta Chamma level kakapoina, since Khaleja came out, I've been riding a massive pichi wave. As Mahesh said "Pichi peak scaleloki elli poyindi"
I actually didn't watch the entire movie first. I watched the comedy scenes that Krishna posted. Okoka sceneni tirigi tirigi tirigi tirigi chusi munisi poyenu.. From the intense and non-verbal Mahesh in Athidi, emerges this fun, crazy and A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Mahesh. And then it struck me why I love him so much. He looks great but idi andariki telusu. But for me, aina gonthu ante voice... As weird as it sounds, i love his dialogue delivery. Its very natural in flow. Unlike some that really need a class or two on it. Accent gurinchi cheppanu because I dont know it but they vocal pitch and seamless flow was just... *sigh* Mahesha, enduku ila?
Anyway, take a look at a few scenes I love..
Ee scene enni sarlu chusina.... Aah Shivering vachesthadi..
Mahesh kosam chusina.. I love Rao Ramesh and Shafi in this too.. Chichoo!
Inkenti Bhayya, watch and make comments.. sarena?

Cinema Pichi Pilla
This is just a random place to find info, pictures and articles of interest. I may go overboard with the gushing of scenes but its necessary :P . I love movies and there's no two way about it. While the my main site Words from a Lotus is total class, this is jhatak-matak, whistle chesei mass! If you like it, comment.
My love for Tollywood, Kollywood and even Bollywood is not comprehendable to some but.. Choosei mava. Tell me what you think and I'll see what I can add.
Nachakkpothe, sorry boss this is my page. Kaanivandi.. Enjoy!
